Data protection
Article 13 of the Swiss Federal Constitution and federal provisions concerning data protection state that every person has the right to privacy and protection from misuse of their personal data. The federal authorities strictly adhere to these rules. Personal data is strictly confidential and will not be forwarded or sold to a third party.
The federal authorities work closely with their web hosting providers to protect databases against any attempts at illegal access, and endeavour to prevent the loss, fraudulent use or falsification of the information.
The following data is registered when a federal website is visited: IP address, date, time, web browser request and any information that is generally transmitted to the operating system or web browser. This provides the basis for an anonymous statistical evaluation to help the federal authorities improve the content of their websites.
The Federal Act on the Surveillance of Postal and Telecommunications Traffic (SPTA) stipulates the legal obligation to retain login information for at least six months.
If you make an initial contact voluntarily and register your email address, it will be recorded in a separate database which is not linked to the anonymous log files. You can cancel this registration at any time.
